PEANUT REPORT

SPECIAL NOTICE

The PEANUT REPORT will cease to be published effective with the
release of the last report on September 29, 2006.  This is due
to consolidation in the industry and the increased use of
non-disclosure contracts.  Effective September 1, the National
Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will begin collecting
prices on farmers'stock peanuts and report that information 
by type of peanut, with weekly reports being issued starting
October 13, 2006.  


LOCAL PRICES IN SHIPPING SECTION,  September 28, 2006.  Based 
primarily on the information from peanut millers and brokers.  
Prices represent sales F.O.B. shipping point per pound unless 
otherwise stated. Sales (other than peanut oil and meal) are
reported in truckload quantities (44,000-45,000 pounds).
Volume qualifiers when referenced in the report are: very light
(1-5 trucks), light (6-10 trucks), fairly light (11-25 trucks),
moderate (26-50 trucks), fairly heavy (51-100 trucks), and
heavy (more than 100 trucks). 
 

SOUTHEASTERN SECTION

Trading was very slow during the marketing period of 
September 22-28 according to marketing sources when 
contacted at the end of the reporting period for sales activity.  
Demand was very light.  Each of the reported sales represented 
fairly light volume.  Sales were cents per pound, 2005 crop 
unless otherwise stated.

Trading was very slow during the marketing period of 
September 22-28 according to marketing sources when 
contacted at the end of the reporting period for sales activity.  
Demand was very light.  There were occasional sales reported 
during the trading period for prompt delivery. The sales were 
too few in number to provide a representative market price.
